Qubes (publisher: Creative IT) is an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) solution designed to meet a highly operational need: to control production with reliable workshop data, at the right level of granularity, and at the right time. In concrete terms, Qubes addresses two pillars that are common to most industrial sites: production monitoring and equipment performance monitoring (TRS/OEE), with complementary bricks around quality and traceability.

Against this backdrop, CIPAM is partnering Qubes to support manufacturers in their deployment: scoping, integration, on-site implementation, connection to equipment and field adoption – from standard scope to more complex MES projects.

What Qubes actually does in the workshop

Qubes aims to reduce the gap between “what really happens in the field” and “what is visible in the tools”. In particular, the solution enables :

  • Real-time production monitoring: immediate collection, updating and visibility of progress, status and deviations.
  • Equipment performance monitoring: performance measurement and management via TRS/OEE, analysis of losses (stoppages, slowdowns, scrap) and operational exploitation of causes.
  • Connection to production and measurement equipment for more reliable data acquisition, fewer re-entries and fewer blind spots.

Integration into the IS ecosystem: Qubes is designed to fit into an industrial environment where ERP / WMS / CMMS must cooperate with the workshop.

Why CIPAM x Qubes

An MES does not add value “just because it exists”. It adds value when three conditions are met:

  1. workshop data is collected correctly,
  2. it is structured to produce coherent indicators,
  3. it is adopted (used on a daily basis, not just for “reporting”).

Qubes provides the MES brick. CIPAM brings experience of deployment in an industrial environment: scoping, field reality, IS integration, interfacing, change management and scaling up.

Qubes feedback: three telling examples

To illustrate the “field” logic of Qubes, here are three case studies. They illustrate typical situations encountered on site: switchover from Excel tracking, search for reactivity, “paperless” trajectory, ramp-up without loss of control.

Abatilles: from Excel to MES to make production more reliable

The Abatilles case study presents a transition to an MES in order to make production monitoring more reliable and gain in responsiveness. Qubes Expert is highlighted for its ergonomics (ease of use), low-code parameterization capability, and workshop-oriented modules (Quality Control, Alerts, TRS).
