• Context

  This company supplies gas cylinders for medical use which, even when empty, represent a definite value. Its customers (hospitals, fire brigades, medical and technical health service providers, etc.) are expected to return empty cylinders for refilling; In practice, bottles disappear or are slow to return to the cleaning, maintenance and filling circuit;

• Objectives

  Implement traceability of gas cylinders for greater safety and better maintenance tracking.

  Offer the company’s customers a turnkey IT application to help them manage and optimise their bottle stocks; This service will be offered on a subscription/rental basis;

• Solution implemented

  Each container is given a unique identifier via a label with a Datamatrix code to specify a serial number and batch number.

  A computer application on the Internet and on PDA-type handheld terminals enables customers to enter all the bottles delivered to them via a simple menu. He can also remove all the containers he returns from his stock by simply scanning a barcode;

  Then, as long as the container remains under the customer’s responsibility, the customer can record every movement of the bottles on the application (delivered to the user, placed in stock, empty, etc.);

  This means that customers know exactly where their gas cylinders are at any given time:
